Old Dane wins IBSF International Cup 2017

Former SCD student Jeremy Rice has achieved international acclaim winning the IBSF (International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation) International Cup 2017 at Lake Placid, USA, on 27th January.

Jeremy attended Â鶹Éçmadou between 2002 and 2009, and is also a former semi-professional rugby league and union player who played full back for Hemel Stags and Amersham & Chiltern Rugby Club. Jeremy developed a love of winter sports during two seasons sliding the world-famous Cresta run in St Moritz, which led him to contact British Skeleton. After beginning the sport at  Lillehammer in 2012, Jeremy has gone from strength to strength in the sport, culminating in his most recent success.

Skeleton is a winter sliding sport in which a person rides a small sled, known as a skeleton bobsled, down a frozen track while lying face down. The race always involves single riders, and begins with a running start from the opening gate at the top of the course. The sport is named because of the bony appearance of the sled.

Congratulations to Jeremy on his amazing achievement; we wish him continued success with his future races, including his aspirations for the Winter Olympics 2018.
