Remembrance Day Service 2021
The school held their annual Remembrance Day Service on Thursday the 11th of November. The day started with an all school assembly led by Mr Harris, Deputy Headteacher and Ms Doyle, Assistant Headteacher. Years 12 and 13 were present, and the assembly was live streamed to the remaining year groups in their classrooms due to current Covid restrictions. Mr Harris and Ms Doyle spoke on the who, how and why we need to remember and Ms Doyle reflected movingly on the experiences of several Old Danes who had fought and lost their lives in the wars.
After the assembly Mr Sutherland led the visitors, namely Old Danes, the Head boy and Head girl, Reverend David Hall and Governors to lay wreaths at the school memorial in the Pastoral Hub Courtyard.
A huge thank you to Jakub Gutek in Year 10 who had composed a beautiful piano piece for the service called “Remembering” and Shiv Khanna in Year 11 who played the last post on the trumpet.
