Art Trip to Venice 2016
Following our previous years' highly successful visits to Barcelona, Prague and New York, we recently organised another trip to Venice. It was open to all art students in Years 7-12. The trip took place during the half term holiday in February.
The themed activities on this trip were drawing, painting, architecture and studying the Venetian artists. Students were able to visit various galleries and museums around Venice. There was a study visit to the Peggy Guggenheim Art Gallery, the Academia Fine Art Gallery, St Marks' Square, the Doge's Palace, the Bridge of Sighs, the Rialto Bridge and a Venetian market place. The trip included sketching and painting, capturing works in the galleries as well as the Venetian architecture. We also visited glass blowing and mask-making workshops. Students learnt about the artworks of various Venetian craftsman and artists. Recreational time was spent sight-seeing in Venice and touring the canals on the public vaporetto boat, exploring the grand palaces and charming piazzas.
