World Book Day update

World Book Day is designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind!

This year was very special as it was the 20th anniversary of World Book Day, and on 3rd March 2017 the LRC celebrated in style.  During morning break a number of staff from different departments came along to the LRC to read parts of their favourite books for the students.  It was great to see the IT and PE departments represented along with a large turnout from English.  At lunchtime the LRC was filled to overflowing with students taking part in competitions including ‘Match the Teacher with the Bookcase’, ‘Name the Book by its Cover’ and then the ‘Giant Book Quiz’.  The day was enjoyed by all who took part.

Competition Prize winners were:

Giant Book Quiz:                         Francesca Shires, Ashgar Noor,  Kushi & Darena           Gospodinova Y8

Match the Bookshelf:                 Lucy Whinnett & Emily Gillies
