Victory for Senior Boys Rugby team
Well done to the Senior Boys rugby team who won the District Cup Final last week. The 1st XV finished off their year in style with a 31 – 7 victory over local rivals Parmiters. After a tense start, Parmiters took a deserved lead with a run through the SCD defence from the half-way line. The boys responded well with Dan Kingsley turning the game at a crucial time, intercepting a pass on our own 22 metre line and running the length of the pitch to score under the posts. The game was very even and hard fought until a moment of magic from Dexter Myers in the second half, breezing past the Parmiters defence after being set up brilliantly by Captain Johnny Phillips and his fly half Ryan Cheater. This opened the flood gates, allowing Max Bendall to score an excellent hat trick of tries to seal the win and provide our departing Year 11 and 13 students with the perfect send off.
Coach Mr Graham Brown was delighted with the team's success and said "The boys have worked incredibly hard this year and deserve this success".
