Charities Week 2019
Charities Week begins on Wednesday 18th December with a number of fund-raising activities being held to raise money for four very worthy charities. Charities Week is an annual tradition at Â鶹Éçmadou, always held in the last week of school before the school closes for the Christmas holidays. It is a time for festive fun for students and staff alike, whilst the school community raises money for chosen charities. Our prefects have chosen four charities to support this year. They are: Michael Sobell Hospice, Herts Inclusive Theatre, Harrow MS Therapy Centre and Watford New Hope.
The charities event begins after the Christmas Carol Service with an ‘Elf Auction’ at lunchtime. Events will continue throughout the day on Thursday 19th and also on Friday 20th December, which will also be a non-uniform day for students, requiring a £1 donation.
The Charities Prefects in Year 13 have been planning for these special fundraising events, organising activities, including sixth form students leading lessons after "kidnapping" teachers, tuck shops being held at break times, as well as the sale of uniform stickers, doughnuts and bleacher tickets for the Sixth Form revue. Last year, the Charities Committee raised more than £11000- an amazing amount raised in just less than 3 days!
Students and staff are looking forward to the Revue, which is always the highlight of Charities Week. Well done to all the sixth form students who are working so hard to make these events such a success and to the Sixth Form team who are working behind the scenes. Finally, a huge thank you to the students, their families and to staff for their ongoing tremendous support of this annual event - all the money raised will make a great difference to the four charities.
