Fashion and Textiles students recognised at UK Young Fashion Designer Awards 2020!
We are thrilled to announce that two of our Year 13 Fashion and Textiles students have been awarded places in the Young Fashion Designer UK 2020 competition. Lydia Artimati and Nell Heys were both selected by the judges for their creative designs and visual presentations. The judges commented on the comprehensive and opulent presentation of the work submitted, which included a body of research and designs drawn with skill and passion.
Established in 2010, Young Fashion Designer UK is an exciting national competition which focuses on enhancing the talent of students to showcase and promote the exceptional work achieved at GCSE, A-Level and by students aged 11-14 studying textiles design, product design and fashion throughout the United Kingdom. The competition is run by centres in the South and Midlands which are each committed to providing a platform for young fashion designers.
After a decade of running the competition, students were invited to celebrate a 'Decade of Design'. The students were asked to select a decade and to design a capsule collection inspired by the chosen decade.
Lydia was placed third in the competition and took inspiration from the 1910's, to create her Paul Poiret inspired capsule. Nell was highly commended for her capsule inspired by Mary Quant and from the 1960's.
Head of Textiles, Miss Georgiou, was delighted to share news of the students' success. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate both girls on their achievements and wish them all the very best with their future endeavours.
