Welcoming Positivity in 2021
Students were inspired by the second assembly of the year presented by Miss Laporta, English teacher, reflecting on the more positive events which took place in 2020 and how to enter 2021 productively and with a greater positive mindset.
Miss Laporta discussed momentous events, to name a few, the US presidential elections which saw the first woman vice president elected from Black and Asian descent, Kamala Harris and the discussions which needed to be had surrounding the civil rights movement in light of the death of George Floyd. The assembly also highlighted the fantastic and heroic work of our NHS and some of the great individuals who have made a difference to the community, such as Captain Sir Tom Moore, who raised over £32 Million for charity last year at the age of 99!
Students were also encouraged to immerse themselves into reading more in 2021 and a list of highly recommended books was provided.
