Student View: Barcelona Trip 2024
Below is a student view from Saskia K in Year 10 who went to Barcelona in May this year
We spent 5 days in Barcelona and we visited lots of interesting places in the area! We also got to try many different traditional spanish foods, including tapas, churros, and of course all of the food in La Boqueria which was delicious. We went to cultural places including La Sagrada Familia where it was very interesting to learn about the history of the building. We took part in a guided tour of the cathedral and took a lot of pictures of the beautiful architecture - especially the stained glass windows. Also, we went to 2 of the famous parks in Barcelona - parc de la ciutadella and parc guell - where we had loads of fun taking photos of the amazing views. Of course, we spent a lot of time at the beach, most of which was spent playing beach volleyball which was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. It was also a really good experience to visit the Picasso museum and it was very interesting to admire all of the famous artwork. However, it goes without saying that my favourite part of the trip was on the last day when we visited the market and were able to roam around and try all of the different foods that we wouldn't be able to find in England.
All of the five days were spent having fun and it was great to have a balance between visiting cultural sites and being given the time to explore the city on our own. This meant that we were given the freedom to try the foods that we wanted and also to visit other places that weren't on the schedule. The accommodation we stayed in was in a good location as it was close to the metro, but even more, it was really fun to stay in a room with my friends, especially in the evenings where we went up to the common room and probably woke up the entire hostel!
