Year 10 Girls Attend Women in STEM Taster Day
Some of our Year 10 girls attended a Virtual Taster Day for STEM subjects delivered by Selwyn College, Cambridge on the 17th February. The term STEM covers Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. On the day, students were given a taste of what it is like to undertake study in these academic fields at the University of Cambridge. Among the speakers were: PhD student Francesca Firth; student natural scientist Rosie Lester; and schools’ liaison officer Grace Glevey.
The girls were given a chance to attend subject lectures by Cambridge academics, and to learn from the admissions team about what happens at university and how to make A level choices.
The girls who attended all have a passion for Science and Maths; women are often underrepresented in STEM subjects and careers, and this event also helps encourage girls to consider studying STEM subjects at University.
Those who attended were:
Rebecca Rae
Maya Lily Naik
Anjali Aravind
Chloe Chambers
Lottie Park
Mariella Donaldson
Anya Weerakoon
