The Brilliant Club
We are delighted to announce that a selection of Year 9 students were asked to particpate in the Scholars Programme, one of the core programmes run by our partnership with The Brilliant Club, a university access charity.
The Scholars Programme provides pupils the opportunity to work with a PhD researcher to experience university-style learning. It helps them to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to secure a place at a highly-selective university.
The students were allocated a PhD student, Diana Williams, as their tutor and studied a programme on British Prime Ministers during the Post-War Years. Students attended weekly tutorials (one face to face, the rest online) and were given homework tasks.
The students had to submit a final assignment after Christmas.
6 of the 12 students completed their assessments with the following fantastic grades awarded:
Aoife Phelan (1st)
Elena Burger (1st)
Christopher Shearlock (2:1)
Joshua Daborn-Mann (2:1)
Alex McDougall (2:1)
Nia Hanspal (2:1)
We hope to be invited to a university for a graduation event later in the year!
