Students Return to School
We were thrilled to welcome the students back to school on Monday 8th March. Years 11-13 were tested on Monday, Years 9-10 Tuesday and Years 7-8 Wednesday in the first wave of testing. Therefore, the students had a staggered start back into school. A huge thank you to our Facilities Manager, Sam Sharp, who leads the testing programme and all of our support staff and volunteers who made this possible. It was a mammoth effort, processing over 500 tests a day, as well as supporting students who felt nervous or anxious. Ms McGee, (one of our nurses and medical administrators), was also on hand for many testing sessions, to offer additional support and supervision.
Our thanks to the professionalism of all staff involved and also our thanks to parents and carers for giving their consent and ensuring students arrived promptly to their slots. As you are aware, testing the students and staff, helps ensure we keep our school community safe. The remaining rounds of testing will occur during the school day for one more week, before students conduct tests at home.
Students were excited to be back in school and see their friends. Although lessons were different, with the introduction of masks in classrooms, students and staff enjoyed being back in the classroom. Next week our extra-curricula programme will begin to slowly resume, while our focus remains to support student wellbeing and continue a love of learning.
