Trip to the V&A
Thirty seven technology students had a very interesting day yesterday when they visited the Victoria and Albert Museum to see the exhibition “Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear”. The exhibition features over 200 examples of underwear for men and women, highlighting the enduring themes of innovation and luxury. The exhibition explores the relationship between underwear and fashion using garments from the 18th-century to exhibits by current designers including Stella McCartney, Rigby & Peller and Paul Smith. GCSE and A level students studied the exhibits and completed tasks related to their studies during the visit. Students compared the underwear exhibits with fashion displayed in other exhibitions and other galleries within the museum, before comparing garments from different time periods, and examining the techniques used by theatrical costumiers from exhibits in the Theatrical and Performance galleries.
